How to do the Leg Press Calf Raise

  1. Sit in the leg press with your feet on the platform’s lower edge.
  2. Position your feet hip-width apart, heels hanging free, knees unlocked.
  3. Lower your heels as far as your ankle mobility allows, without bending your knees further.
  4. Push through the balls of your feet, raising the sled until your calves are contracted.
  5. Slowly lower the sled back to the starting position for the next rep.
Full technique — 7 steps
  1. Sit in the leg press and place the balls of your feet on the lower edge of the platform.
  2. Set your feet about hip width apart with heels hanging free and knees slightly unlocked.
  3. Press the sled out enough to take the weight, then release the safety stops.
  4. Lower your heels as far as your ankle mobility allows without bending the knees further.
  5. Drive through the balls of your feet to raise your heels and press the sled away.
  6. Reach the highest calf contraction you can without bouncing or rolling onto your toes.
  7. Lower back into a full stretch at the ankles and continue into the next repetition.
