How to do the Single Leg Extension

  1. Adjust the machine seat so your knee aligns with the pivot point.
  2. Place the pad on your lower shin, just above your ankle, and sit comfortably.
  3. Extend your working leg until your knee is nearly straight, feeling the effort.
  4. Slowly lower the pad back down to the starting position, maintaining control.
Full technique — 7 steps
  1. Adjust the seat so your knee lines up with the machine's pivot point.
  2. Place the roller pad across the front of your lower shin above the ankle.
  3. Sit tall with your back against the pad and hands holding the side handles.
  4. Keep one leg relaxed and extend the working leg until the knee is nearly straight.
  5. Squeeze the quadriceps at the top without kicking the weight up or snapping the knee straight.
  6. Lower the pad back down until the knee is bent and the weight stays controlled.
  7. Finish all reps on one side, then switch legs and match the same range.
