How to do the Resistance Band Standing Chest Press

  1. Stand with the band anchored, one foot forward, holding handles at chest level.
  2. Press the handles straight forward until your arms are fully extended.
  3. Return slowly to the starting position, maintaining control throughout the movement.
  4. Keep your torso facing forward as you press and release the handles.
Full technique — 7 steps
  1. Anchor the band at chest height and take the handles with one foot staggered forward.
  2. Bring your hands to chest level with elbows bent and wrists in line with your forearms.
  3. Step out until the band is taut and your torso stays tall over your hips.
  4. Tighten your stomach and keep your shoulders down and back before pressing.
  5. Press the handles straight forward until your arms are extended in front of your chest.
  6. Let your shoulder blades move naturally around the ribcage as you reach the end position.
  7. Return the handles to chest level under band tension without letting your torso rotate.

Common mistakes

  • Band anchored too high
  • Leaning into the press
  • Torso rotating during reps
  • Elbows flaring excessively wide
  • Handles drifting unevenly forward
