How to do the Stair Climber

  1. Carefully step onto the stair climber with both feet on the pedals.
  2. Stand tall, keeping your hips level as the steps begin.
  3. Gently hold the rails for balance, avoiding leaning on them.
  4. Let your legs move naturally through each step without forcing it.
  5. Slow the machine to a stop, then carefully step off the machine.
Full technique — 7 steps
  1. Step onto the machine carefully and place each foot fully on a pedal.
  2. Set the speed or resistance, then stand tall.
  3. Lightly hold the rails only if needed without supporting your bodyweight through your arms.
  4. Begin stepping by pressing one pedal down as the opposite side rises.
  5. Let each leg cycle through a comfortable range without stomping or forcing oversized steps.
  6. Keep your hips level and torso upright over your feet as the pedals move.
  7. Continue at the chosen pace, then slow the machine before stepping off.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning heavily onto the rails
  • Taking choppy half steps
  • Stomping the pedals downward
  • Letting heels hang off
  • Bouncing through the hips
